Prashanth Mekala, Supervisory Special Agent, Cyber Division, FBI
Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Prashanth Mekala has been assigned to the FBI New York Field Office for 13 years. He spent his first eight years in the FBI working on complex counterintelligence cases. From 2012 to 2014 he worked in FBI Headquarters as a Program Manager in the Counterintelligence Division – Economic Espionage Unit and the Cyber Division – Middle East/Africa Unit. From 2014 to 2017 SSA Mekala managed a team focused on state-sponsored cyber actors and technically-trained individuals aligned with international terrorist groups. Currently, SSA Mekala leads an investigative team focused on computer intrusions committed by sophisticated criminal cyber actors. SSA Mekala has an undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon in Chemical Engineering. He has a graduate degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). He recently graduated with distinction from Carnegie Mellon with a graduate degree in Information Technology.
